Alpen-ites. Tomorrow it begins! Yes, tomorrow, Alpen will be admitted to the hospital to begin the inpatient portion of his bone-marrow transplant.
As such, Alpen-ites, I ask each of you to spend a little time tonight gathering your thoughts, prayers, intentions, and wishes that this bone-marrow transplant will heal, protect, and ultimately free Alpen from disease.
Today, rather than focus on the possible risks, uncomfortable side effects, or frustrating restrictions that come with this treatment---let us instead focus on the possibility, blessings, and opportunity that lay within this treatment.
Today, let us feel deep gratitude for the kind and generous stranger that traveled across continents to donate their marrow to Alpen.
Today, lets us revel in our good fortune that Alpen being treated at the best hospital with the best doctors---with our family's most trusted and brilliant doctors close by.
Today, let us count our blessings that unlike thousands of others in this country, Alpen has health insurance and that finances have never decided whether he has access to the best and most advanced treatments.
Finally, today, let our hearts expand with joy and our mindseye linger on the possibility of a cure within this treatment.
Now this is not to say that we should place any unnecessary expectations on this treatment. Though we most certainly will hope for the best, we must be sure to maintain a certain agility, openness, and grace for whatever terrain lies ahead.
However, today, we set forth our intention and determination that this treatment will begin auspicously without obstacle and will yield the highest benefit possible to Alpen.
Onward! To a cancer-free existence!

Dear Alpen,
The last 3 days, Dhruvi, Nilay and I have spent going for darshan of Shri Satya Sai Baba. He was visiting Pune afte 40 years to inaugurate a temple of lord viththal. It was a beautiful temple built on a tabletop that was surrounded by a range of mountains. The open space and the presence of Sai was a unique combination. It was about 2 hrs drvie fron our house one way.
The devotees were from varied cross section of the society. The rich- poor, the educated ones, the young-old, from various places in India and abroad...the number could be any where in range of 100,000 or more each day.
The curious question was what moves them to gather like a flock? The only word that is being used to give command was "SAI RAM" whether to sit or to get up or to keep quiet.
On the first day of the function we had singers like Kavita Krishnamurthy, Nitin Mukesh, family of Shivkumar sharma, many politicians...to have darshan of BABA.
Second day was the inauguration of temple, the day was ekadashi, of Kartik month. In the evening apart from darshan, we had discourse by Baba himself. I would write down the massage in the next post.
The last day apart from darshan, we had little champs singing abhang in front of Baba. HE blessed them with gifts and love.
All throughout these 3 days, we had only one person in our heart, mind and prayers...ALpen. May HE helps us during the trying times and reach the ultimate goal of keeping Alpen healthy, happy strong and peaceful.
I am sure the positive vibration we had experienced will be passed on to Alpen and keep us postive all through out.

Dear Alpen,
We know that your treatment is about to begin. During our entire journey so far, we have seen that all odds have evened out!!
As Purvi rightly puts it, we have gotten the best of everything. And that is not a coincidence. It is with a purpose. We all had to go through this difficult karma, in which your participation had to be the biggest. But it would be just a phase that we have to pass through. All indications are that things are going to work out smoothly. Our finding an unkown donor - the most unbelievable thing to happen - was indication enough for us to have that exceptional faith! I remember Jyoti and I tried to work in India to see how we can activate the donor's drive. Even with all the dear and near ones on our side, the task looked too difficult to accomplish. And here we have a fellow out of a blue who is prepared to help us in this critical time. It is truely a magic!! or HE is subtly testing all of us for our faith and love, clearly with the best for us in His mind!!
Again Sai Baba's arrival into Pune was totally unplanned. This gave Jyoti. Dhruvi and others to go for Darshana and have their prayers heard in person. One more indication!!
Just let us finish this Vilambit Raga of doctors then we will have our bandish in Dhrut laya as a grand finale!!
